About this Cause

Donate to sustain a more-inclusive Somerville Winter Farmers Market! We invite you, friends and neighbors, to help support our SNAP-eligible neighbors during this time when access to nutrient-dense and local foods is more important than ever. $15 = one SNAP match for one family. $60 = SNAP match for one family for one month. $150 = one SNAP match for ten families. $750 = half of the SNAP match funds needed for a typical Saturday farmers market. $1500 = all of the SNAP match funds needed for a typical Saturday Farmers Market. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the successor to Food Stamps) recipients often find fresh, local food at farmers markets inaccessible. For the past several years, the Somerville Winter Farmers Market has raised SNAP match dollars through city grants, sponsors, and individual donors, making it possible for more eligible households to participate in our Farmers Market. During the 2022-23 season, we saw an average of 101 SNAP unique shoppers each week. Over the course of the entire season, we matched $26,130 SNAP dollars. The total number of SNAP dollars matched has doubled compared to the 2021-22 season with $14,861 SNAP dollars matched. Thank you for supporting this important program that helps make healthy, local food available to all. The Somerville Winter Farmers Market is hosted and managed by the Center for Arts at the Armory, which will process and acknowledge your donation.
